DDP HAS ELSINORE COMMITTED TO MARCH LINE UP

MONKEY PHARMACY’s vision of madness and the Apocalypse moves to Devil’s Due! ELSINORE # 4 (of 9) DREAMS IN THE MADHOUSE (JAN062998) begins in March. The nightmare continues in this 32 page color, horror & mystery written by Ken Lillie-Paetz and joined by artists Brian Denham, Mark Sparacio, Josh Medors and others.

“If you have never heard of Elsinore, I am morally obliged to advise you to pick it up. " stated writer Ken Lillie-Paetz, "This comic offers one of the only plausible answers to the ever nagging question of "How does one avoid the Apocalypse and the final judgment as described in the Book of Revelation?" Elsinore is really just a public service announcement with some great accompanying art.”

“Devil's Due has always shown they possess a unique vision of bringing a variety of titles successfully into the spotlight,” stated Ken Lillie-Paetz. “I am very proud that they have decided to take Elsinore allowing this book to continue its run and to bring in new readers. I couldn't be happier about being part of Devil's Due and feel that Elsinore will fit in great here. “

“We’re glad to have Ken and his Elsinore comic aboard,” states DDP president Josh Blaylock. “Not only does it mean we have a personal hook-up for Canadian Beer now, but the Ontario-based writer has created a fascinating concept.”

“From my experiences as a comic book retailer, I know the problems a title faces when there’s a release interruption due to switching publishers.” continued Ken Lillie-Paetz, “I would like to thank the fans and retailers who have shown me their support in the time it ‘s taken to re-launch Elsinore. I am very grateful that interest in the book has remained and that I can now finally end the speculation by announce Elsinore's new home. I can't say how much it is has meant to me to have the support this book has had on the message boards and with fans and retailers I have met at the conventions.“

For those of you who are eagerly awaiting Elsinore's return, you will not be disappointed. The surface has only been scratched on the story and soon we will be digging deep enough for all the cool wet gooey juicy bits to seep out. Issue #1 of Elsinore will be up online in full on www.DevilsDue.net website in January for everyone looking to “Try Before You Buy”.

ELSINORE # 4 (of 9) - DREAMS IN THE MADHOUSE (JAN062998) - Dr. Murchison’s nightmare continues, but he now seems to be having other people’s dreams. COMIC BOOK DIGEST RETURNS – FOR ONLY 25 CENTS!

Coming this January, Alias Comics returns with the all-new and improved COMIC BOOK DIGEST (CBD) in comic shops everywhere with full-color previews of upcoming Alias releases – from LULLABY to TWIN BLADES, and everything in between – for only 25 cents each month!

Originally a black and white preview book spotlighting various independent Comic book company projects, the all-new, 32-page monthly CBD will feature at least two comic book previews in each issue, with each preview being a whopping 11-pages or more of full-color art.

"The most notable thing about the new CBD," said Mike S. Miller, Alias Executive Director, "is that we're starting with a BANG! The most valuable tool a comic book can have toward garnering new readers is exposure. We're sending out 50 thousand copies of the January issue of the CBD to retailers through Diamond Comics, who is encouraging us in our effort. As time goes on, and we get more sponsors on board, our goal is to reach a 200 thousand circulation within the Direct Market alone! With that kind of exposure, the titles we preview are more likely to receive the notice they deserve!"

And Alias has already seen it work! The new CBD is modeled heavily after the success of Alias Comics’ TWO BITS, a black and white preview book Alias published through Image comics a year ago this month. TWO BITS previewed LULLABY: WISDOM SEEKER and THE IMAGINARIES, and as a result of these previews, THE IMAGINARIES became one of Alias' best selling titles to date, as did LULLABY – having sold out of its well over-stocked Diamond inventory within two-days of release, while its second and third issues both were sold out before they ever hit shelves!

"We look forward to the CBD having the same impact on sales on the new ongoing Lullaby series and Twin Blades, and all subsequent CBD Previews, as we did with TWO BITS: increasing sales by increasing customer awareness of these books,” added Miller.

Alias Comics Communications Coordinator, Ryan Scott Ottney, will handle CBD ad sales and marketing, offering ad rates at a fraction of what you might pay for other nationally circulated industry magazines. Already Alias has lined up sponsors such as Mycomicshop.com – the official online shopping resource of Alias Comics – by offering a large national circulation at a fraction of the cost of other publications.

Palmiotti and Gray's 'Neptune' Rises this March from Narwain

Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray have been blazing a trail through mainstream comics with acclaimed titles as 'Jonah Hex', 'Hawkman', 'Daughters of the Dragon' and 'Monolith'. Now, Narwain is pleased to introduce the world to their creator-owned epic graphic novel 'Neptune.'

The delicate treaty between surface world and the submerged city of Atlantis is jeopardized when a super villain terrorist tries to launch a war that will bring him power over the earth. One man, possessing the power of the god Neptune, must stop him.

With artwork by Wellington Dias ('C.S.I.'), 'Neptune' features political intrigue, super villains, terrorists, spies, giant sea monsters, strange new sciences and a lawless border town in the middle of the ocean.

Neptune is an alternative to the continuity-heavy crossovers going on everywhere. "It's a book with a beginning, middle and end. You can just pick it up and read it. A retailer can keep it on the rack all year round."

Palmiotti said he's happy to be working with Narwain on the project for a number of reasons. "We're very excited that Narwain has let us create something from scratch and be totally involved with ever aspect of the book. Also, Narwain is launching this in several markets around the world simultaneously which is a big plus."

'Neptune' features 48 full-color pages for a cover price of $5.99. The graphic novel is slated for release in March and can be found in the current Diamond Previews catalog.

RUNES OF RAGNAN ART CONTEST

In the upcoming origins issue #4 of RUNES OF RAGNAN, the Viking god Odin will play a major role. The creative team of RUNES OF RAGNAN has worked to create a new vision of this legendary figure, and we are inviting ALL artists to do the same in our "Essence of Odin" art contest.

Artists from across the globe are invited to take on this iconic figure. Reinvent him, stretch the boundaries of what has been done, and create your own version of the AllFather. Odin is the central deity within Norse writings, and is considered by many to be the most powerful of gods within their mythology. Now is your chance to reinvent him.

The winner of this contest will win publication in the epic Origins issue of RUNES OF RAGNAN #4, signed copies of the book, and 2 limited edition signed lithographs!

If you are not familiar with RUNES OF RAGNAN, the entire #1 issue has recently been made available for FREE online at the Image Comics site- http://www.imagecomics.com/. This is a world rich with Viking Lore and the dark tones of a people that placed the warrior on such a high pedestal. You can also see a preview of issue #2 there as well!

Speaking of issue #4, German artist Philipp S. Neundorf will be taking on a 5 page sequence. Featuring Odin, this sequence was specifically written for Philipp, feeding into his strengths as a slightly abstract painter. We wanted the Viking realm of Valhalla and the presentation of Odin to be completely removed from the reality of the other pages in RoR.

COMMUNITY COMICS WEATHERS THE TEMPEST

Community Comics, the studio behind such popular titles as ArmorQuest, David: The Shepherd’s Song, and David’s Mighty Men, has joined with Alias Comics in launching a different kind of project, titled TEMPEST, to benefit the continuing relief efforts on the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Currently offered as a Featured Item in this month’s Previews catalog and scheduled to be released in stores in February 2006, TEMPEST tells the story of an artist who, while trying to work on his stories of heroics and tragedy, finds himself facing a real life tempest of calamity and heartbreak. All proceeds from the sale of the book will be given to the Salvation Army.

“The Salvation Army was the first in there when these things hit,” artist Sherwin Schwartzrock said, “so it was a no-brainer that was where we wanted the money to go.”

“This is one of the most important projects I’ve ever worked on,” said writer Ben Avery. “Not only because of the fundraising – although that was the original motive – but also because of the message. My hope for this project is that people will be encouraged to get involved. One person alone may not be able to do much, but, and this is the theme in the book, we are stronger together.”

The book itself is also a collaborative project, bringing together creators from Marvel, DC, Image, Crossgen, Dark Horse, Alias, and Archie Comics. In total, over a dozen people volunteered their time and talent to the project.

The fund raising portion of this project is two fold. First, there will be the profits from the sale of the book. A second source of fund raising will be the sale of TEMPEST’s original artwork, via eBay, when the book is released in February 2006.

Almost six-months will have passed since Katrina and Rita devastated the United States Gulf Coast when this book hits shelves. Avery says they took that into account, though, and in fact it became part of their plan. “Katrina will have been off the front page for a while and the victims of this horrible tragedy will be off the radar when this book hits. And that’s another part of the message of TEMPEST – to continue helping those in need, even after it’s no longer fashionable, both in the southern states and in our own neighborhoods.”

Written by Ben Avery (ArmorQuest, The Hedge Knight, Lullaby), TEMPEST features art by Randy Green (Witchblade, Emma Frost, Dollz), Javier Saltares (David’s Mighty Men, Wolverine, G.I. Joe), Sherwin Schwartzrock (ArmorQuest, Deal with the Devil), Sergio Cariello (Batman, Sojourn, and Spider-Man), Mike Worley (The Simpsons, Archie Comics), Tom Bancroft (Opposite Forces), Phil Hester (Nightwing, Green Arrow, and The Wretch), Tim Kane (Wildguard, Super Crazy TNT Blast!!), Mario Ruiz (Samson, Testament), Gary Shipman (Pakkins’ Land, Amazing True Life Stories), Darren Brady (Handel’s Messiah, HeroTV), Jesse Hamm (Bitten Apple, Savage Daisies), and Gary Martin (The Moth, Nexus).

MARCH INTO THE SHOPS FOR ALIAS IN 2006

Coming this March, Alias Comics picks up two exciting new series, ORION THE HUNTER from the team of Blue Water Productions, and VALKYRIES by screenwriter Kevin Grevioux!

Writer Scott Davis and artist Alex Sunder tackle the newest title from Blue Water Productions: ORION THE HUNTER – a four-issue monthly mini-series ripped from the pages of Blue Water’s one-shot, THE ODYSSEY, as Olympia's greatest hunter, Orion seeks the ultimate purpose of his immortal life and is thrust in the middle of a conspiracy that can destroy Olympus!

“The Orion story had been percolating in my head for such a long time. I am thrilled with the way it turned out…the perfect blend of first class artwork and a roller coaster ride of a story,” said ORION writer, Scott Davis.

Also joining Alias in March, actor/screenwriter Kevin Grevioux (UNDERWORLD) and artist Leonel Castellani bring you VALKYRIES #1.

VALKYRIES is an all-new limited series about a young Valkyrie who doesn't exactly follow "Odinian" protocol when it comes to choosing warriors to enter Valhalla. Typically in Viking lore, only the strong and the brave are allowed in the halls of Valhalla. She, however, has a compassion for the least likely individuals to enter Viking heaven. People who are sick and infirmed, and not necessarily the brave and the bold.

“She looks more at the heart of a person rather than his prowess as a warrior,” adds Grevioux. “She even brings injured or dying animals to Valhalla, where they recover and become immortal. As you might guess, this makes her an outcast among the other Valkyries.

“What I like about Alias is that they take chances and create top notch books. Both [Publisher] Brett Burner and [Executive Director] Mike Miller have an intuitive grasp of the industry,” Grevioux continues. “They helped me out tremendously, because a comic book script is NOT a screenplay and I tend to over-write. It's been a cool experience so far and I hope to be working with these guys for a long time to come.”

All of these great comics will hit shops everywhere this March, courtesy of the creators and studios of Alias Comics!

'Zombie-Sama!' Makes Sushi of the Living Dead the February

As Hell breaks-loose around him, Jim witnesses the great sushi master Sanjiro, armed only with a vast array of filleting knives, heroically overtaken while defending the strip mall.

Outfitted with Sanjiro's beloved cash register katana and chain mail armor lifted from a local scuba shop, "Yo, Jimbo!" will set out on a quest to save one small town from the monstrous multitudes of flesh eating freaks.

"We hope the kids will learn important life lessons, like how to use scuba gear to survive an attack by the walking dead and how much fun it is to lop zombie heads off," said Tucci of his story, "but it's also about honor, being true to oneself and following one's own calling."

'Zombie-Sama!' marks the first of many projects teaming Tucci with Broglia. "John has a very alive, hip, cartoony style, which is perfect for killing zombies and having fun doing it," says Tucci.

"All Souls Day" Beckons on DVD January 17, 2006 from Anchor Bay Entertainment

The Mexican celebration known as Dia De Los Muertos – “Day of the Dead” – honors both life and death. But what happens when the horrifying history of a town defiles both? What happens when the dead cannot leave the living alone? On January 17, 2006 Anchor Bay Entertainment, an IDT Entertainment company, reveals the ominous answer with the DVD release of All Souls Day: Dia De Los Muertos, available for the suggested retail price of $19.98.

Horror fans will find much to feast on, as the All Souls Day DVD presents the uncut version of the film, with terrifying never before-seen footage, in a 16x9 widescreen (1.85) transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, as well as a festival worth of insightful special features.

Co-produced by IDT Entertainment and Mindfire Entertainment, through its CFQ Films division, All Souls Day was written by Mark Altman (House of the Dead) and co-produced by Altman and Mark Gottwald (The Specials). Mindfire is a film production company which specializes in the supernatural/thriller/action genre.

All Souls Day stars Ellie Cornell (Halloween 5), Danny Trejo (The Devil’s Rejects, Spy Kids), Laura Harring (The Punisher, Mulholland Drive), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer), David Keith (Daredevil), Marisa Ramirez (“General Hospital”), Travis Wester (Eurotrip), Nichole Hiltz (Spanglish), Laz Alonso (Jarhead) and Femmes Fatales magazine covergirl Mircea Munroe (Cellular). Directed by Jeremy Kasten (The Attic Expeditions) and with special effects from Almost Human (“Angel”, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”), it is a terrifying journey into a world of shocking ceremonies and undead denizens!

In the film, a group of hard-partying students from the OC are stranded in the remote Mexican village of Santa Bonita where a nightmare has lied buried for over a century. There they discover an innkeeper with a dark secret, a sheriff with a shocking past and a holiday that demands the most horrific sacrifice of all. Now the ceremony can commence. The hordes of the undead have been unleashed. And on this day, an unstoppable feast of human flesh has begun!

All Souls Day has already garnered significant buzz among genre and non-genre fans alike, screening as 2005 “Official Selections” of the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, UT and the San Francisco Indie Fest “Another Hole in the Head” Festival.

The All Souls Day DVD includes an extensive list of special features:
  • Commentary by director Jeremy Kasten and writer/producer Mark A. Altman
